Six categories of membership are open to new members.
- Full Member — Full flying and voting privileges; all family members can fly.
- Family Member — Full flying privileges; immediate family of a Charter or Full member and SSA member.
- Student Member — Full flying but no voting privileges; must be a full-time student.
- Limited Member — For private owners; can get tows and all other member benefits but cannot vote or fly club planes solo or as pilot-in-command.
- Associate Member — For tow pilots and CFI--G's. No voting privileges and no solo flights in club sailplanes except for proficiency flights.
- FAST Member — For prospective members who want to dip their toes in the water before committing to one of the other membership categories. FAST members receive one instruction flight, a three-month membership in the SSA with a subscription to Soaring magazine, a one-month membership in the club, a glider pilot’s logbook, a copy of the FAA Glider Flying Handbook, and a 14-minute soaring video.

Applicants in the Full, Limited, and Associate categories must submit the full initiation fee with a membership application. Full memberships require an initiation fee of $650. FAST members must purchase a FAST package ($99) and submit a membership application. Annual dues for other categories are prorated to the end of the current club fiscal year (June 30). SSA dues are also payable to the club. Tow fees vary from $25 (1000' ) to $55 (4000'). There are no rental fees for club aircraft.
Members with no previous flying experience can expect to spend ~$3,500, including fees and dues, to earn a private pilot certificate with a glider rating. Airplane pilots typically spend ~$2500 - $3000 to add a glider rating to their certificates. Most airplane pilots will solo after ~15 dual flights with an instructor.
